Hunters
Marsh Retrievers was established in 1971 for the purpose of raising genetically
sound Labrador retrievers for hunting and Field Trials. With the advent of
Hunt Tests, we added Hunt Test training.
Our People Training Program,
THE CHALLENGE,
is a course designed to test your skills and ability to work with your retriever as a
team. We will identify your training strength and weaknesses, improve your handling
skills; build your confidence as a handler; teach you how to read your dog's body language
on land and water blinds; teach you how to become a better handler; teach you how to start
a young dog running blinds with speed, style, and confidence; teach you how to do marking
drills, swim-by drills, and de-cheating water marks.
Our Retriever Training Program
is based on establishing a special program
that fits the individual needs of the dog owner, but more importantly a program that will
work for the dog. Just as each retriever's training needs are different--some are
soft, some are tough, some are smarter than others--no one program will work for all
dogs. That is where our combined 48 years of training experience comes into
play. We establish a program for the dog based on patience and repetition--one that
produces stylish Hunting, Hunt Test, and Field Trial dogs--dogs that are a pleasure to
work and exciting to watch!
Our record of accomplishments speaks for itself. In Field
Trials, we have had dogs in the top ten on the National Derby list and have won
Qualifying Stakes. In AKC Hunt Tests, we have qualified 38 Master Hunters,
have qualified dogs at The Master National; and, in our first two years of
running UKC Hunt Tests, we titled 20 dogs at all levels.
